The Eastern NY Commercial Hort Team and the Lake Ontario Fruit Team are offering a 1-day, hands-on course for tree fruit farms on using farm financial information and other resources to make decisions about long-term investments or changes to their business. We will apply the techniques covered in the 8-part webinar series in December to scenarios using sample financial data from fruit farms in NYS. You will work with others in a group through a series of problems and leave with a better sense of how you can organize and interpret your own financial information to make better long-term investment decisions about your farm business. In recent years, the apple leafcurling midge (ALCM) has become an increasingly problematic pest in many orchards across the northeast. Due to its small size and tendency to damage the newest terminal growth, growers often don't notice there is a problem until it is too late to manage effectively. In this webinar, Kristy Grigg-McGuffin (Horticulture IPM Specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agricultural, Food, and Rural Affairs) will discuss Ontario's experience with ALCM, including its biology, monitoring, biological control, and chemical management.

Are you planning to become a certified pesticide applicator in 2023? Join ENYCHP specialists for an in-depth review of topics covered on the NYS DEC pesticide applicator certification exam. This two-day virtual course includes explanation of key concepts on the core exam, test-taking tips for the core and category exam, practice questions, and Q&A with instructors. Course materials, including program recordings, practice exams, and DEC materials will be available to registrants after the program. This training is geared toward certification categories 1A (agricultural plant), 21 (field and forage), 22 (fruit), and 23 (vegetable).

We will first hear from Dr. Brett Blaauw from the University of Georgia/Clemson University on the use of mating disruption for peach tree borers. We will then hear from Dr. Terence Robinson as he gives his recommendations from growing sweet cherries on dwarfing rootstocks under rain covers in New York.
This program is eligible for .75 DEC credits in categories 1A, 10, and 22.
